Does your IT provider handle all of your cybersecurity?

Why a good IT provider isn't always enough, and how leadership can verify essential safeguards without a 300-page audit.

The short answer: they probably do a great job with what they were asked to do. The real question is who, in your organization, owns cybersecurity decisions.

A question of mandate, not competence

Your IT provider sets up workstations, maintains servers, manages Microsoft 365 and answers support calls. That is demanding work. But an organization's cybersecurity goes beyond technology: it involves governance, personal information, employee training, suppliers, AI use and incident readiness.

In several engagements, we found gaps between what leadership believed was in place and what actually was. Not through negligence: simply because nobody had been asked to raise the business questions and check the evidence.

Five questions to ask your IT provider this week

  1. Is multi-factor authentication enabled on every account, including administrator accounts and old shared accounts?
  2. When did we last test a full restore of our backups? Can you show me the result?
  3. How many people have administrator rights, and why?
  4. What happens the day an employee leaves? Is there a written procedure?
  5. Who do we call, and in what order, if ransomware hits on a Friday night?

If the answers are clear and backed by evidence, excellent. If they are vague, it is not a criticism: it is a priority.

The value of an independent perspective

Cyberallié does not replace your provider. We complement their work with an independent perspective focused on business risk and leadership decisions. Every safeguard is clearly classified: confirmed by evidence, to be fixed, not verified or not applicable.

That is exactly what our Cyber & AI Assessment does in 90 minutes, and what the Cyberallié Shield does in more depth, together with your IT team.
