Frequently asked questions on cybersecurity, privacy and AI

Straight answers about our services, how we work and the issues SMB leaders care about.

What is Cyberallié?

Cyberallié is an independent advisory firm based in Gatineau, Quebec, serving the Ottawa-Gatineau region. It helps SMBs and non-profits with cybersecurity, governance, privacy compliance and the safe use of artificial intelligence. It is led by Jean-François LeBlanc.

What services do you offer?

Three core services: the Cyber & AI Assessment ($795 + tax), the Cyberallié Shield ($4,995 + tax) and My Cyber & AI Coach ($695/month + tax), plus training and AI workshops.

Which areas do you serve?

Ottawa, Gatineau, Chelsea, Cantley and the Outaouais in person when needed, and anywhere in Canada remotely, in English or French.

Do you replace our IT provider?

No. Your provider runs your systems. We help leadership understand risk, verify essential safeguards and prioritize, in collaboration with your IT team.

Do you do technical audits or penetration tests?

No. We conduct guided reviews based on documentary evidence and demonstrations. If a technical test is needed, we help you scope it and entrust it to a specialist.

Do you offer 24/7 monitoring?

No. Cyberallié is not a managed service provider or a security operations centre. We provide advice, training and follow-up.

Do you guarantee privacy compliance?

No. No limited engagement can guarantee full compliance. We help you understand your obligations and put appropriate practices in place. Consult a lawyer for legal advice.

Where should we start?

With the Cyber & AI Assessment: 90 minutes online and a summary of five priorities. It is the simplest way to find out where you stand.

How should we govern employee use of ChatGPT?

Define approved tools, forbidden information (personal information, trade secrets, passwords), the obligation to check answers, then train your teams. Our AI workshop and policy template help you do it quickly.

Do our employees need cybersecurity training?

Yes. Employee awareness training is one of the 13 baseline controls recommended by the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security. Phishing and fraud target people first.

Do you need our passwords?

Never. We do not ask for passwords or administrator access. Evidence is provided by you or your IT provider as documents, screenshots or demonstrations.

Do you issue a certification?

No. We can provide a certificate of participation describing the engagement. It is not an independent cybersecurity certification. CyberSecure Canada is the federal certification program for SMBs.

Does the new federal law (Bill C-8) apply to my SMB?

The Critical Cyber Systems Protection Act, enacted by Bill C-8 (Royal Assent in June 2026), targets designated operators in federally regulated critical sectors. Most SMBs are not directly covered, but may receive requirements from regulated clients.

Do you work in English?

Yes. Jean-François works with organizations in both English and French, including across Ottawa.
